Water Department

The City of Florence operates a Regional Water Authority with the surrounding communities Rockvale, Coal Creek, and Williamsburg, servicing approximately 10,000 people. Florence also provides water to the East Florence Water District which is located just east of the city boundaries. Florence draws most of its water from the Arkansas River and maintains a treatment facility and storage reservoirs South of Florence.

The water system is operated by a staff of six City of Florence employees and managed by Water Superintendent Brandon Harris, who holds a Class A Water Certification and Class II Water Distribution Certification.

*Single Family Homes are not required to do backflow testing*

The Annual Backflow Assembly Testing is only required for business, commercial, industrial, or multi-family residential properties that have an installed backflow prevention assembly. The City of Florence, along with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, have not required single-family residences to install backflow prevention assemblies on their water service line. Therefore no testing is required.
